Julie McLeod If you have even the slightest suspicion that you have a drug or alcohol addiction, please realize that you are NOT ALONE. Fighting addiction is a tough battle, and you don't have to do it all on your own.
Be brave. Confide in someone you trust, such as a friend, family member, or counselor. With their help, find a support group and start on your way to recovery.
There are many rehabilitation programs and centers available. Twelve-step groups, for example, provide a supportive environment in which you can share your experience with that of others. In listening to the struggles of your peers, you will begin to develop compassion for yourself and others. In hearing about their successes, you too will finf your own inner strength.
Don't wait another day. Be brave. Reach out toward recovery. It's already here.

Troubled celebrity Lindsay Lohan is once again in a drug treatment center, and once again is awaiting sentencing for breaking the rules of her probation. It seems Lohan has been struggling with addiction for a long time now, even the alcohol monitoring bracelet she wears appears to be insufficient to deter the actress from her addiction.
To make matters worse, she misses court appointments, and, when she does attend court, is dismissive of its significance. Why else would the starlet attend the lofty halls of sentencing flashing nails that show an expletive?
With two DUIs and 3 Drug rehab sessions Lohan is not out of the woods. But let us hope for her sake she is able to get rid of the demons and put drugs and alcohol behind her as distant memories. Being in the limelight is damaging to her health

kphotographer A new hope for methamphetamine drug addicts has emerged in the United States. The California Pacific Medical Center has began implementing new methods to overcome the barriers of methamphetamine abuse.
Methamphetamine abuse is currently treated using the traditional method of group counseling for several months. However, recent research has shown that meth addicts need to receive treatment differently compared to other drug addictions. The incorporation of a new experimental drug and counseling has proven to be a success with some of the clients.
The new methods implemented will hopefully change the direction of treatment in the future. Although it is still in the experimental stages, the medical center is determined to find the best solution to overcome the barriers of methamphetamine abuse.

Recent studies have show that teenage girls may be more likely to develop an alcohol or drug addiction than their male counterparts. According to The Partnership for a Drug Free America, more than 50% of girls believe that drugs will help them to forget about their problems.
As a girl and a former teacher I can defintely see the reality in this conclusion. It became greatly apparent to me during my years of teaching that girls are far less likely to receive legitimate medical treament for ADD, depression, and a host of other mental illnesses. This is due to a combination of stereoptypes about 'moody' girls and the fact that they display different symptoms, symptoms that tend to be far less annoying to parents than those commonly exhibited by boys. When girls remain untreated for mental illnesses they slowly begin to self-medicate.
Add to this the growing problem with sexual abuse, which is far more predominant with girls then boys and you have the perfect storm.
If you are a girl who feels you have a drug problem you are not alone. If you are the parent of a girl who you think may have a drug or alcohol problem, now is the time to do something about it.
It is important that you contact someone who can get you help. Teenagers are still developing and can be greatly damaged by excessive drug or alcohol use. Drug abuse in girls also leads to a higher incidence of unwanted pregnancies and unhealthy children. There are many drug addiction recovery centers aimed at helping young girls.
